Pumpkin Pie
One of my students was having a rough time of it today. I know he loves to cook, so I offered him my cute little pumpkins to cook in a pie. It worked for a while, but I needed more ingredients than we had in the classroom, and will have to bake it tomorrow. We got the pumpkin carved and cooked, and roasted the seeds for snacking. Cooking is a good opportunity to teach hygiene, fractions, recipe reading, job sharing and patience. Eating the fruits of our efforts is a lot of fun, too.
The Bro's
I have a tough job but there are some very dedicated, talented people who make it a lot easier. Mr. Potter, seated, is with me the entire day. Mr. McCumskey comes in and does "group" with us every morning, and is available in case we need him any time during the school day. The Amazing Robin is still with me, but afternoon only. Fortunately she is in the classroom next door in the AM, and takes care of paperwork issues, attendance, etc. (Robin really runs the place, she makes me look organized.) We had a fairly rough day today, but with the whole team on board we got through it just fine. Tonight is Back to School Night and I'm am required to stay here until 7:30. The farm is too far away to go home and come back. I went into Norwich proper and got grocery shopping done, banking, a Tractor Supply stop and made a run to Loew's for soap making lye. I won't have many parents stopping in my room as my class is very small. I have my NY Times and sock knitting to keep me occupied until the bell rings and I can RUSH home to my poor little Izzy. I know he is listening for every sign that I'm finally home. Chores will be late tonight.
Justin Lin Not Directing "Terminator 5" Anymore!
It's been announced that "Fast & Furious" franchise helmer, Justin Lin has sadly had to leave the "Terminator" franchise, before he even got to make one film.
He's been reportedly in discussions with Arnie and rights owner, Megan Ellison over the films plot and what he'd do to the franchise, to bring it back to life and how to forget the previous two (slighly cocked up) installments. Lin was set to put the first of the two films into production sometime in 2012, but he's now not able to do so until he finished his shitty 6th and hopefully final "Fast & Furious" film first.
The door has been left open for Lin to return as director, but for now, no movement will be made on the franchise.

New "ROBOCOP" Reboot To Be Nothing Like 80's Original!
During an interview with online site, Film1, new "ROBOCOP" reboot director, Jose Padilha mentioned that his new version of the cyborg cop film will be completely different than the 80's original.
This is what he said,
Earlier this year, you announced that the reboot of RoboCop will direct. The original from 1987, directed by Dutch director Paul Verhoeven , with that movie made its debut in Hollywood. How will your vision differ from those of Verhoeven?
I love the sharpness and political tone of RoboCop , and I think that such a film is now urgently needed. But I will not repeat what Verhoeven has done so clearly and strongly. Instead I try to make a film that will address topics that Verhoeven untreated. If you are a man changes into a robot, how do you do that? What is the difference between humans and robots developed? What is free will? What does it mean to lose your free will? Those are the issues that I think.
RoboCop is your first movie in America. Like the political apparatus of Rio de Janeiro, the Hollywood film industry, a system in which not everyone thrives. What is your strategy to survive in Hollywood?
I try to make movies that I like, that I feel and I deal with social problems involved. I will continue to do where I work. If I can develop in Hollywood, then I make a movie with all the means Hollywood. If that fails, then that movie is not. It is that simple!

Amy & Rory Confirmed For Xmas Special!
Obviously if you've been watching "Doctor Who", you'll have saw the departure of Amy and Rory last week in epsiode 11, "The God Complex". Even though Karen Gillan confirmed that she was returning as Amy Pond full-time next year for "Series 7", I actually thought she was lying after what we saw.
But it turns out that herself and Arthur Darvill (Rory) have been confirmed to be appearing in this years Christmas Special, as they were spotted on-set of the Wales shoot for the seasonal episode. All I can say is, "THANK GOD!!!!".

Some New Pics From "Superman: The Man Of Steel" Sets!
So, we have Henry Cavill as Superman, looking as though the crew are filming him taking off in the air. Then we have Cavill in Clark Kent form, cycling to work, but why he's not wearing his glasses.....I don't know. Maybe there just practicing the scene before fully shooting it.
And last we have Michael Shannon as General Zod, but for some reason he ain't in a motion-capture suit like originally on-set pics. Maybe for only some scenes, he's got a motion-capture suit.

Kevin Costner Leaves "Django Unchained" But Film Gains Two More Actors!
"Superman: The Man Of Steel" actor, Kevin Costner has sadly dropped out of his role in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming western, "Django Unchained".
Even though he dropped out, two new actors have dropped in. Two actors by the names of Samuel L "Motherfucking" Jackson and Gerard McRaney. It's unknown which characters these actors are playing, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

Uncle Ben & Spartacus Die!
Hi guys, I haven't been able to be online, updating my blog, but now I'm back and this post may be late but here it is anyway.
Over a week ago, two more great actors sadly passed away. First was "Spartacus: Blood And Sand" star, Andy Whitfield, who sadly died of Lymphoma at the age of 39, on September 9th and second was Uncle Ben himself, Cliff Robertson, just one day after his 88th birthday on September 12th.
Whitfield had been battling his ilness for some time now. This was the reason why he could not continue as Spartacus in the Starz tv show. And Robertson, basically just died of old age.
They will both be missed dearly by both their family and fans.

Vacation
Fiber Friends
The best thing about going to sheep festivals is spending time with my fiber art friends. They not only understand what I do - they do what I do. Lisa Merian has been raising sheep on her 350 acre farm in Bainbridge all her life. She is Wool Goddess of the New York fiber art scene. Lisa teaches spinning, felting and fiber preparation all over Central New York, including the Earlville Opera House. She is often asked to judge the prestigious fleece competition at sheep shows. Lisa played a pivotal role in my life when she suggested I check out this area for a place to raise my own sheep. Amazing how one person can change your life. Candace Cain is the High Priestess of the Clan of Candace. I wear her beautiful handcrafted earrings on a daily basis. Candace has a flock of seven Bluefaced Leicesters and is quite a felter herself. Her nuno-felted scarves are highly sought after. I'm fortunate to have such talented people to rub elbows with. Carol Schwarzott is the creative force behind Crayonbox Designs. Carol taught art for many years before she decided to become an art book binder. She has books displayed in the Smithsonian Museum. Carol says she was inspired by my fibers and Bundaflicka totes to spin and knit her artsy purses and sew utility totes. She constantly comes up with new ideas and stunning fabric combinations. Carol really keeps me inspired and on my toes with my own work. Susan Carr is a dear friend to all of us, helping out at shows and being generally supportive. She lives in a log cabin in Earlville and spends a lot of time on the West Coast with her movie producer son. Susan's husband is a construction worker turned psychiatrist in Syracuse.
